In addition to being a personal tribute to « A Space Odyssey”, the project is a sensory immersion into the heart of Kubrick’s film. Odyssey 1.4.9 stages the famous dark monolith by building it into an incredible object with scrolling images. A genuine memory aid that will crystallize clear expression of the movie’s theme: absolute intelligence.

Covered with a specially designed colossal image containing the 200,000 photograms of the movie, the monolith appears to be an immense and inter-penetrable living matrix. Using virtual reality’s digital techniques such as stereoscopy and spatial effects, the film, inevitably and naturally conceived for this format, is not only a visit to the heart of a masterpiece, but also to its deeper inner process. A vertiginous, abstract journey in which relations of scale and size are completely overturned.
